Slide behind the wheel of your own 4WD Jeep Wrangler®, then buckle up and hold on! Your route to south Denali is the road less traveled. Your destination is the historic Petersville mining district and Cache Creek Goldfields.
Off-limits to most rental vehicles, the Petersville Road is mostly unpaved and becomes progressively more rugged and primitive the farther you proceed. As your trusty Jeep Wrangler® bumps, dips and wades through water, you'll be treated to fantastic scenery, a chance to see a variety of wildlife and, weather permitting, breathtaking views of "The Great One", Mt. McKinley.
You're sure to be intrigued and captivated as your guide shares his knowledge about the area's natural history and local lore by way of an interactive two-way communications system. Upon reaching camp, deep in the Cache Creek goldfields, you'll be treated to a hearty meal. Then, after some instruction, you can pan for gold yourself and keep what you find.
For a real Alaskan adventure, the Denali Jeep® Backcountry Safari has it all; an exhilarating driving experience, gold panning, wildlife viewing opportunity and awe-inspiring scenery.
Operates: June 1 through September 10, 4-1/2 hours.
